Carol Fraser
Carol
Fraser -- Educator, Master
Gardener, Environmentalist --
has devoted her life to helping
kids of all ages learn about
critical elements of life around
them. Her extraordinary
life-journey has provided a
unique perspective on the whole
process of how we learn and
given her special insight into
the many rewards of working with
children.
Working with
kids is at the heart of
everything she does -- she has
spent years in classrooms, from
kindergarten to high school,
from Texas to Massachusetts and
places in between -- teaching a
range of subjects from
science/math to literature.
Never content with the status
quo, Carol uses a variety of
mediums -- gardening, water
experiments, play, etc. -- to
promote learning without kids
even knowing they're doing it.
From all accounts, Carol is
MAGIC in the classroom --
whether that occurs inside or
outdoors.
Carol has
participated in developing the
water conservation curriculum
programs offered by Water Lily
Press. She was instrumental in
creating the program content and
educator materials, and holds
annual workshops demonstrating
how teachers can get the most
out of using the materials in
the classroom. She is also a
classroom resource for the
TEXAS WATER program and does
several unique interactive
frontier projects with students.
Carol is a
member of the North American
Butterfly Association's Houston
Chapter; she serves on the
National Gardening Association's
Children's Web Site Board of
Advisors; she's a member of the
Board of Directors for the
Charles and Thelma Mercer
Foundation (Mercer Arboretum);
and she still manages and
operates a wheat and timber
ranch in the state of
Washington. She and her husband,
Ken, are avid photographers and
naturalists and place travel
high on their list of
priorities.
